Job coaches – a follow-up

Since 2009, jobseekers registered with Arbetsförmedlingen (the Swedish Public Employment Service) who have been unemployed for a relatively short period of time can get the support of a job coach in their search for work. The help can consist of drafting job applications or preparing for job interviews, for example. Some of the coaches are directly employed by Arbetsförmedlingen (internal job coaches) and some by private providers (external job coaches). In this project, we focus on external job coaches.

The aim of the project is to increase our knowledge about the job coaches and the work they do. What activities do job coaches offer jobseekers and what are the jobseekers opinions of job coaching? Are there any differences between internal and external job coaches? To what extent do jobseekers find employment after having been coached?

In this project we do not study job coaching within the Job and Development Programme or the Youth Job Programme. The project is a government assignment.
