The purpose of this project is to study how economic policy affects the behaviour and well-being of families. To investigate these issues, we assemble register data from different sources with detailed information on labour market outcomes of parents and health outcomes for both parents and their children. This novel database is used to evaluate different policy reforms aimed at improving the welfare of families.
The behaviour and well-being of parents and children are important in their own right, but knowledge of their determinants is crucial also for our understanding of the development of society as whole, e.g. long-run labour supply, productivity, and future welfare costs.
The project is partly financed by Riksbankens Jubileumsfond.
