IFAU has three publication series: Working papers, Reports and Dissertations series.

• The Working paper series is in English and basically all new research at IFAU is published in this series. A working paper mainly targets other researchers. It should be of sufficient quality to be sent to a scientific journal to be evaluated for publication.
• Research that is only written in Swedish is published in the Report series, for example government commissions. Moreover, the papers in the Working paper series are often translated and revised into a Swedish version. Monographs in Swedish and English are also published in this series.
• Doctoral dissertations written by people employed at or associated with IFAU are published in the Dissertation series
