About the institute

The Institute for Evaluation of Labour Market and Education Policy (IFAU) is a non-teaching research institute under the Swedish Ministry of Employment. IFAU employs approximately 40 researchers and is located next to, and cooperates closely with, the Department of Economics at Uppsala University. IFAU offers a friendly and collaborative culture, access to Swedish administrative data, and freedom to conduct research within our fields of research, i.e., labour market policy, the functioning of labour markets, education policy and the labour market effects of social insurances. IFAU’s goal is academic excellence and policy relevant research to provide a basis for better policies and practices. Our researchers regularly publish in scientific journals, organize and participate in international research conferences, teach and advise.
