The immigrant-native achievement gap in school

We document the achievement gap in school between immigrants and natives in Sweden. While we know that there is a substantial gap, there is still no clear evidence about the mechanisms that produce the gap. This is especially true when it comes to upper secondary school and higher education. We investigate how the gap has developed over time since the 1980s and ask what factors may explain it. We focus on outcomes throughout the educational system from compulsory school to higher education.
