Wages and health among preschool employees
Dnr: 119/2020
This project examines wages, health outcomes among employees in preschools – a sector that is characterised by a high proportion of female employees, relatively low wages and high sickness absence.
In this project, we compare wages and health outcomes among employees in preschools run by municipalities, by companies organised as limited companies, and by other types of organisations. We investigate whether wages and health, measured as sickness absence and medication use related to mental illness, differ between the types of organisations. In addition, we study staff background, in the form of education level, experience, etc., and how it correlates with wages and health outcomes. We also examine staff turnover, and the possibility of increasing wages by changing employers in the preschool sector.
The project is conducted as a descriptive analysis based on a dataset consisting of data from registers on wage development, workplace, and other labour market-related variables for employees in preschool.
