The limited social networks of foreign-born individuals are often highlighted as an important reason for the group’s weak labor market outcomes and social exclusion. This project will study a randomized field experiment to causally estimate how foreign-born individuals’ social and economic outcomes are affected by increased contact with established Swedes. The effects will be examined in both the short and long term through a combination of recurring survey data and administrative register data. The project is a collaboration with a nonprofit organization that each year matches a large number of foreign-born individuals with established Swedes with the aim of contributing to improved integration and inclusion.
