Postdoctoral position in Economics of Education

We invite applications for a two-year postdoctoral position in the economics of education.
The postdoc will work with Associate Professor Anna Sjögren, Professor Björn Öckert, and coauthors on a research project examining the role of parental skills in shaping children’s life chances. The appointment will begin at the latest on September 1, 2026.
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will work closely with the project team and handle large Swedish administrative microdatasets on skills, education and health. Responsibilities include ordering data, construction and cleaning of datasets, and conducting econometric analysis, primarily using Stata. The aim is to produce high-quality journal publications in collaboration with the research team. The postdoc will also have time to pursue their own research projects. The position does not include teaching responsibilities.
Required qualifications
- A PhD in economics, completed or expected by August 2026. The degree must have been obtained within the past three years.
- Strong research potential.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct empirical research in empirical labour economics using administrative data.
- Good command of spoken and written English.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
Desirable qualifications
- Good command of spoken and written Swedish.
- Experience working with Swedish administrative registers, particularly health, education and military enlistment data, and familiarity with the Swedish institutional context.
